Pt. #1
The yucatan incident wiped out everything larger than a small dog rather quickly and most everything else except this little burrowing(root eating) pig-like creature that just happens to be the ancestor of all mammals if 'm not mistaken. Look it up!
Pt.#2
As in the yucaton incident where a huge impact occured half on land and half at sea, inch or so layer of iridium found world wide as proof of this incident has recently led to another discovery with similar evidence to another bottle neck extinction-type episode. Around a hundred thousand years ago, a similar element to iridium, (unsure what exactly) scientists have found another layer of something found mainly in comets. So it is theorized that a fragment of a commet ignited(burst) in the upper atmosphere over North America. I heard scientists talking about this on a program called Nova (or a similar show), saying that" fires swept across the continent with a week burning everything combustible !!!
Pt.#3
100 years or so ago over siberia...something did in fact ignite over siberia. It devasted an area aproximately several hundred miles in diameter. (Pls forgive the rough math)
Pt.#4
I am no scientist, but I do remember alot of hub bub about what was called a bottle-neck extinction having occured some 100 thousand years ago due to a cauldron volcanoe eruption (some where) seemingly close to the time of this commet fragment occurence. I try not to dwell to heavily on these seeminly morbid facts and theoretical factoids and opinions but the truest statement I've ever heard made about earth bound asteroids and the like is/was "It's not a matter of if we will be hit, but rather when we will be hit"!
pt.#5
Nasa web site and this gentleman here may know about what and when the APOPHUS meteor will be here in the year 2029 and perhaps even what to do about it and others comming to a planet / reality near you; however, if one believes we are not alone (god, aliens, or whatever) my question to us all is this. Could these so called dooms day events be part of the grand scheme of things? How long until man completely eats itself out of it's own environment? There is something out there. I hope to bring awareness to those seeking a slightly larger picture of where we may stand. Thanks for listening RonCrazyBear

Near Earth Objects and Asteroids: Are We Whistling in the Dark?

If we don’t do something, sooner or later Earth will be hit by an asteroid large enough to kill all or most of us. That includes the plants and animals, not just people. Maybe this won’t happen for millions of years. Maybe in 15 minutes. We don’t know….
